Pain vs. Happiness

I read somewhere that to be happy it is better to do what is painful earlier and then do what makes you more happy. For example, going to workout in the gym seems harder so rather than waiting for it until at the end of the day, do it earlier in the morning and get it out of your way  so that you can enjoy rest of the day without worrying about it.

Similarly, paying bills can be harder to your stomach to fret over your financial burden, so early in the day or earlier you pay better your rest of the day or time would be to avoid thinking about it. There is a reason as why do we like All-Inclusive type of vacation deals. You go through the pain once, as you pay in advance, rest of the time you just enjoy your time at your favorite vacation spot without worrying about selecting where to go what to eat and how expensive it would be. You do not want to end your day with negative news but with positive note. You must have heard the old adage "All is well that ends well".  You may want to try to apply this in your life

So try some of the following examples:
  • If you have a bad news and also a good news, give the bad news first and then end it with a good news. The recipiant atleast will have some hope. If you start your conversation with a good news and end it with a bad news, it will wash all the positive or optimistic aspect of the good news also.
  • To learn any new skills try to do the harder or more painful part first, you will notice that rest would be easier and like a breeze for you.
  • If you are a student, work harder early on; so for rest of the school year it would be a lot easier and you will not be trying so hard to catch-up to the subject.
  • For any job or business you must do the grunt and hard work early on that normally can be painful, however, soon you would start getting fruits of your labor and be successful faster.
Try to infuse this habit in your life, hopefully you will be successful, happier and enjoy the rewards of your hard and pinful work.
